Cello Private Lessons
David
Hello! My name is David and I have been either playing or teaching music for over 30 years. I started piano lessons at the age of six and quickly made a transition to clarinet when I was 9 and oboe when I was 10. I have been playing the oboe ever since so I have been playing this instrument for 27 years. Along the way I picked up many instruments to learn and experienced the wonder that each one can bring me. I learned the bassoon, English horn, clarinet, alto saxophone and trumpet before I went into college. At the university of Arizona, where I earned my bachelor's in music education, I learned the flute, violin, viola, cello, bass, French horn, baritone, Tuba, and percussion instruments as part of my degree and personal growth. While I was in high school and college, I tutored many students on an array of different instruments, everything from piano to tuba. I was hired right out of college in 2010 in Tucson, Arizona for my first music education job, an orchestra position that I remained in for 5 years. During that time, I taught hundreds of students string instruments like the violin, viola, cello and double bass, while also growing the orchestra program at the school substantially. I then got married in 2015 to my wonderful wife, Rebecca, who is also a music educator and we lived in Florida for a few years. During that time, I worked multiple jobs one of which was privately teaching students on a variety of instruments. My wife and I made the decision to move to Colorado in 2017 where I got a job teaching both band and orchestra at Elizabeth Middle School, where I still remain today. We now have two handsome boys, Ezra and Elijah, and we both thoroughly enjoy teaching music to young people wherever we can find them. I have always had a passion for teaching music to the next generation and there are few things that give me as much pleasure as when a young person decides to make music a part of their life.

Ian B.
Ian is a cellist with a passion for inspiring people in their journey of music. Just like any journey, you need the proper support and tools to succeed. Ian works with cello students on theory, technique, musicality, growth mindset, and most importantly, learning to love the instrument and music they play. While he is classically trained, Ian loves to help students find their musical voice in whatever genre they are passionate about. Whether your dream is to play at home for enjoyment or to become a professional cellist, he will work with you to help you towards those dreams. His encouragement to students is to find what inspires them in music and pursue it fearlessly. As Beethoven aptly put it, "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable!" Ian has played in a variety of events and musical groups such as the Denver Young Artist's Orchestra, the Vittoria Ensemble, 828 Music Ministry, church worship services, and weddings. He also enjoys being on the Douglas County Youth Orchestra's sectional faculty where he gets to mentor and help fabulous young musicians polish up their repertoire before concerts. Ian now studies under cellist Olga Ogranovitch as he pursues his career in teaching and cello performance.

Michele W.
Michele is a performer and teacher who comes from Norman, Oklahoma. She has been teaching in classrooms and studios since 2009, and brings a wealth of knowledge of both instruments and how students learn into her lessons. Michele earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a string emphasis in 2014 from Arizona State University, and immediately moved to Oklahoma to pursue a Master’s program in Cello Performance from the University of Oklahoma, which she completed in 2016. Since graduating, she has created a thriving studio in Oklahoma, taught as the assistant orchestra teacher and sectional coach at a middle school for five years, and held the principal cello position for five years with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony. She relocated to beautiful Colorado for her husband’s job and is excited to continue to teach and inspire the next generation of string musicians here! She is currently performing with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and subs for the Greeley Philharmonic as needed. When she is not teaching, practicing, or performing, Michele enjoys crafting, video games, and spending time exploring Colorado with her husband and daughter.
