David G.

David has been a passionate musician and educator for over 30 years. He started piano at six, moved to clarinet at nine, and found his lifelong instrument, the oboe, at ten. Along the way, he explored a variety of instruments, including bassoon, trumpet, and saxophone, and expanded his expertise to strings, brass, and percussion while earning a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Arizona.
David began his teaching career in 2010 in Tucson, Arizona, building a thriving orchestra program. In 2017, he and his wife Rebecca, also a music educator, moved to Colorado, where he now teaches band and orchestra at Elizabeth Middle School.
As a father of two boys, David finds immense joy in inspiring young musicians and helping them make music a meaningful part of their lives.

Gavin E.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, instrumentalist Gavin E. found himself in a sea of expressive and emotional music, inspiring him to explore the most peculiar instruments and combinations. Music became an adventure, performing with groups like Bianca and the Flyboys and the Atomic Fusion Initiative in a variety of performance settings.
Studying with names like Rob Mullins, Shane Endsley, and Dawn Clement, Gavin received a passion for music and its ability to transform the soul and bring beauty to one’s life.
Gavin currently holds a Bachelor’s in Jazz Trumpet Performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver and plays trumpet and piano professionally in the Denver area."

Joseph L.

Dr. Joseph L. is a dedicated music educator, performer, composer, and artistic designer with a passion for helping students discover and develop their unique musical voice. He teaches a wide range of instruments and specializes in experiemental electroacoustic music, aiming to bridge contemporary techniques with traditional performance settings. Dr. L. holds degrees in Music Education and Saxophone Performance from the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, and the University of South Carolina. In addition to his academic and performance background, he has an extensive career in the pageantry arts and currently serves as the Winds & Visual Caption Head for the Bluecoats' Rhythm IN BLUE ensemble. Dr. L believes music is for everyone, and he is committed to guiding students through meaningful, creative, and engaging musical experiences.

Justin S.

Justin, an awarded trumpet player from Clearwater, Florida, has over 13 years of experience. He played with the Ruth Eckerd Hall Jazz Band before studying at the University of South Florida in 2018. After a year with Dr. Jay Coble, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Fleet Bands.
From 2020 to 2023, Justin performed with the Marine Corps Band New Orleans, playing for audiences from classrooms to stadiums of 60,000+. He toured Texas with the Marine Forces Reserve Jazz Orchestra and performed the National Anthem at a New Orleans Saints game in 2021. As Assistant Enlisted Conductor, he led and rehearsed bands until completing his service in 2023.

Michael R.

Michael, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has spent the last five years in Colorado with his wife, Analise, and their two-year-old daughter, Colette. Now in his third year as the band director at Montbello High School, Michael has taught music at every level from kindergarten to college. A clarinetist for 23 years and a jazz saxophonist since high school, he holds a bachelor’s from the University of New Mexico and a master’s from the University of Utah, with plans to pursue a doctorate someday.
